Absent Elk

From Norway but based in the UK, Absent Elk takes its name from the metaphorical absence of its Nordic soul. Lyrically this theme comes through the music, but with an absence of money for any photographic based imagery we wondered if we could echo this sentiment in another more graphic way?

Bold, geometric shapes are used to construct a herd of elk (each reflecting the personality of one of the individuals within the group). The illustrations were then broken apart and reconstructed to create a continuous flow of shapes that loosely reflect the melancholic sound of the groups music, whilst also giving a nod to the bands name. Printed onto the sleeve, the supergraphic can be folded into six different covers that each represent one of the six different songs on their debut EP.
